Ryan Seacrest has a naughty little secret – he lies to celebrities on the red carpet.

The radio host and TV presenter will once again be interviewing the stars for the E! Red Carpet Show as they arrive for the Oscars on Sunday.

And Seacrest admits he is a little creative with the truth when he needs to be.

“Yes [I have been untruthful to celebrities] – I live in Hollywood, I work for E! Have I ever lied on the red carpet – erm, yes, I have!

“Sometimes I find myself saying: ‘That looks…’ and sometimes ‘great’ comes out before I can process I’ve said it, or ‘fantastic’.

“And then I watch it back – and it does look different on television – and think that was not a ‘great’, that was a ‘less than great’.”

But the American Idol host insists he isn’t worried about messing up on live TV: “I do think that audiences are ok with, and can understand, imperfections.”

“The perfect shows are kind of boring,” he added.

Live from the Red Carpet: The 2009 Academy Awards will be on E! Entertainment Television at 11pm on Sunday February 22.
