Simon Cowell is set to build a professional tanning salon in his new $20million Beverly Hills mansion.

The American Idol judge, 49, bought the property for $16million nearly two years ago but razed the original structure and has rebuilt a two-story modern home to his specifications.

Plans for the 11,550 sq ft mansion, obtained by Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper, show a solarium off the master bedroom complete with one full-length tanning machine and a smaller ‘booster’ facial tanner.

A source says, “Simon is very close to moving in. The furniture will start arriving next week and he is hoping to move in some time next month. He;s been building the place for nearly two years and has spared no expense on getting it exactly the way he wants it.

“Simon has the master suite but [ex-girlfriend] Terri [Seymour] still has her own room and walk-in closet. She says she plans to stay over, even though she has her own place less than five minutes away. They are still really good friends.”

Cowell has called the house his “dream home”.

“I’ve been involved in every aspect of the design of the new place, right down to the doorknobs. I have other houses but this is my dream home,” he said.
