Cheryl Cole has been told to take elocution lessons ahead of her bid to crack America.

The Girls Aloud singer-turned X Factor judge is said to be keen to land herself a TV presenting job when she moves stateside.

But Simon Cowell is concerned that American audiences won’t be able to understand her accent, so has arranged for her to see a voice coach in  Los Angeles.

A source tells Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper, “Simon is a realist and he knows one or two things need to change.

“He sees her strong Geordie accent as the key problem. It makes him laugh but he knows American audiences simply won’t understand a word she says.”

It has also been claimed that Cheryl and soccer star husband, Ashley Cole, have put their baby plans on hold until she knows their marriage is rock solid.

An insider said, “She has had to reconsider the whole baby plan now. She feels the time is just not right.

“It is really hard for her because she wants a family more than anything in the world, but she is a clever girl and won’t bring a baby into this world until both her and Ash are ready. He has a lot of proving to do before then.”
