Simon Cowell is set to go head-to-head with his arch-rival Simon Fuller at an award show honoring the greatest music executive ever.
On Wednesday the two music moguls – Cowell, 49, and Fuller, 48 – are up against each other at the 50th anniversary Music Week Magazine Awards in London.
The pair – who were embroiled in an ugly court battle for months over the similarities between Pop Idol and The X Factor – are nominated along with 18 other industry legends for the accolade, which decides who made the greatest contribution to the music industry in the last 50 years.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “There has been some bad blood between them. Things have cooled over the last few years but they are still bitter rivals. They are fierce competitors, always have been and always will be.
“Simon Cowell always likes to distance himself from awards ceremonies. He has nothing to do with the Brits, for example.
“His argument is that he would much rather have an act at the top of the charts than be picking up some silverware at an industry bash.
“He would love to get one over on Simon Fuller though, and vice versa. They are competitive men and want to win in everything they do.
“Fuller is a lot more private than Cowell, but he would love a victory at the Music Week bash to be as public as possible.”
