Hugh Jackman has urged fans not to worry that the Mexico City premiere of Wolverine was postponed due to the city’s swine flu outbreak.

“I’m a movie fan, I love movies, but they’re just movies at the end of the day — and there are other things that are way more important, such as people’s safety,” the actor said at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine premiere in Tempe, Arizona Monday night.

“It’s very tragic what’s going on down there…I’m worried for them,” he added “The government and local officials closed [the premiere down] because they’re obviously closing theaters.”

More than 150 people have died from the flu, which is slowly spreading to the U.S.

But Jackman insists he’ll return to Mexico once the flu clears up.

“As soon as they open it up and as soon as it’s safe for people to go out and see movies again, we’ll go back down there,” he said.
