David Hasselhoff has responded to reports that he was admitted to the hospital over the weekend for alcohol poisoning.

While the actor admits he had a “few drinks,” he blasted claims his blood alcohol level was 3.9.

“Yes, I had a few drinks. Yes I checked into the hospital. But it wasn’t for alcohol poisoning and no there’s no police report about a 3.9 [blood alcohol level], that’s completely made up. I don’t know where that came from… no police report,” the former Baywatch star told Entertainment Tonight.

“I’m fine. I’m doing great. But you know what? The attorneys will handle it.”

“I never involve my family in any of this, ever,” he added. “Not once. … Even when I had full custody of the kids, you know? And everything is over. … We’re settled. It’s done. And, you know, let’s get on with our lives. Life is too short. It’s beautiful, you know, and I make mistakes. You know? We all do. It’s like, enough is enough.”

Hasselhoff isn’t letting the situation get him down, adding, “[My girlfriend Kimberly] brought me an article this morning that’s pretty funny. It said something like: You know you’re an icon when the reports say that you checked into the hospital with alcohol poisoning, that you were intoxicated, that you checked into rehab, you died, came out of rehab and you’re having an affair with gerbils.”
