Madonna to Set up Trust Fund For Mercy

MadonnaMadonna is setting up a trust fund to help Malawian tot Mercy even if she can’t adopt her.

The singer’s application to adopt Chifundo “Mercy” James was rejected last month, after a judge said she had not met residency requirements. The 50-year-old superstar is currently appealing the court’s decision.

Madonna is said to be worried that a man called James Kambewa is now claiming to be the four-year-old’s real dad, and is keen to raise her.

However, the Holiday hitmaker is still keen to provide for Mercy — whatever the outcome of her appeal.

“Madonna loves Mercy,” a source told British tabloid the News of The World. “She wants to be part of her life and provide for her.

“She wants to make sure Mercy has everything she needs in life and her dreams are fulfilled.”

The trust fund will pay for Mercy’s schooling and travel even if the ruling that she can’t adopt her still stands.
