Ed Westwick: ‘Only Idiots Believe Gay Rumors’

Ed Westwick is adamant rumors he’s dating his Gossip Girl costar Chace Crawford have finally been put to bed — because only idiots would believe them.
“I hope so,” the actor tells the UK’s Metro newspaper in a new interview. “I don’t think anyone with half a brain seriously thought there was anything in that.
“Some of the more gossipy magazines take a hot topic and run with it but anyone who knows us knows we are just mates.”
However, Westwick says he’s not surprised about the rumors. “[Gossip Girl] is based on a woman who spreads gossip on the internet, so I guess the concept of the show is stretching out into real life,” he said. “People chop and change in their relationships. Life imitates art and art imitates life.”
