Robert Pattinson: ‘I’m Not Good Looking’

Robert PattinsonRobert Pattinson is amazed he landed the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the smash hit Twilight movie franchise — because he doesn’t think he’s attractive enough.

“The Edward in the book is like an enigma of everything that’s perfect about a man. It’s like, ‘He walked into a room and it hurts to see how beautiful he is.’ It’s just kind of embarrassing,” the British actor tells the UK’s Look magazine. “I just couldn’t figure out a way to act perfect.

“I felt like an idiot going into the audition — even having the gall to go in means you’re a bit of an arrogant p***k. Who could possibly play it apart from Zac Efron?

“Twilight fans are very loyal to the book and to the author Stephanie Meyer. And I got a 100 per cent negative reception when I got cast. I kind of expected it, though.

“I mean, in Harry Potter people likes the characters, but they don’t want to sleep with them. And I guess it kind of adds a different intensity to it, which I still haven’t got my head around.”

    He sounds pretty down to earth…hope he stays the same despite his success. And hope he doesn’t get type cast as a pretty boy! Something tells me that he won’t, though, b/c he isn’t too pretty like Zac Efron. Maybe he can be the next Johnny Depp :)

    I dont understand when he says he wasnt attractive enough to play Edward Cullens. See, most of his fans like him from his role in Twilight but me, when i saw him in harry potter that’s when i fell in love. Im a loyal fan , but i cant agree with robert on the “not attractive enough” thing. it may just be me but he is really hot. i cry when i see a picture of him cause i know how I’ll never have a chance to just be friends whith him. and im only 15 years old. Robert pattison is totally hot and hes seems like a really nice person and a cool friend. GOTTA LOVE THAT SMILE OF HIS!!!!!! Roberts most respecful and

    Robert states, “The Edward in the book is like an enigma of everything that is perfect about a man”. In saying that, the book is written from Bella’s perspective, so his perfection is Bella’s version of perfection, not necessarily everyone elses. Rob shouldn’t feel like an arrogant p***k for auditioning for the role, as he was auditioning for the role of Bella’s perfect man. Have to say, if Zac Efron was cast as Edward, I wouldn’t have even seen the movie. Rob you are a great sort and much more attractive than all those hollywood pretty boys.

    It’s also great to see a young actor who possesses such humility, one who has kept himself grounded and not let all this Hollywood crap go to his head. I take my hat off to his parents for raising Rob to become such a humble young man. Job well done.

    He’s right, he’s not good looking enough to be Edward. Neither are any of the other actors in the movie. If they had cast the movie correctly the actors would be beautiful not just O.K looking. Where are all the beautiful actors out there????? What about that guy who plays in Bella?
