Ricky Gervais visited the White House last week — in his pajamas.

The British comedian was forced to sport his nightwear for an event at the President’s residence because all his “smart” clothes were at the cleaners.

“So [girlfriend] Jane and I, Ben Stiller & family and Shawn Levy & family were invited to the Whitehouse,” Gervais wrote on his official website. “We had a convoy of black limos waiting. All my smart clothes were at the hotel dry cleaners. We couldn’t be late and couldn’t miss the opportunity.

“There was only one solution. I went in my pajamas. (Absolutely true) Thank you.”

In another blog post, Gervais revealed that he is working on the animated series of his audiobooks. “As you may have read, HBO have ordered 13 half hour episodes of the animated audiobooks,” he said. “We’ve started already with about 25 animators working on different bits to get the series ready for the end of the year.”
