British actress Lucy Gordon has died — just two days before her 29th birthday.

Gordon — who played the role of roving British reporter Jennifer Duggan in Spiderman 3 – was found hanged in her central Paris apartment yesterday.

Lucy had recently finished filming a movie in which she stars as Birkin, the wife of iconic French singer Serge Gainsbourg.

A spokesman for the Cannes film festival, currently underway on the French Riviera, described Lucy as “a hugely promising young actress”.

“We are devastated by this news. All those attending the festival had been hugely impressed by Lucy’s work. She was a star in the making,” the spokesman said.

An officer who found the actress described the scene as “absolutely horrific”.

He added, “This was a clear and very tragic case of suicide. There are no suspicious circumstances.”

Her agent Jean-Louis Diamonika also confirmed that Gordon had taken her own life.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
