Robert Downey Jr. Starved Himself For Sherlock Holmes

Robert Downey JnrRobert Downey Jr. “literally starved” himself filming his new movie Sherlock Holmes.

The Iron Man star plays the legendary fictional detective in British director Guy Ritchie‘s new film adaptation.

And Downey Jr. says he was barely able to eat before shooting fight scenes because of the need to look lean.

“There were times when I literally starved myself,” he dished. “It was really hard to get into the right shape for Holmes. I probably did as much physical preparation as I do for Iron Man but at least with that I get to eat burgers!”

Robert recently compared the new Sherlock Holmes to Lethal Weapon.

“It reminds me of Lethal Weapon or The Odd Couple or Butch and Sundance,” he said. “They are kind of a mix of all those. It’s that same thing when you are taking the eccentricities that everybody can relate to because they’re not so far-fetched.”

    It doesn’t matter what role he is playing. Robert Downey Jr. is a fantastic and charismatic looking man in any role he plays. He is just so versatile he can play anyone and do a great job. For him it is definitely not hard to be a multi-talented actor and be handsome all at the same time. I think it is great that he cares enough about himself and his fans to always keep in such fantastic shape!

    I think Downey’s accent is a let down, as is Richie ham-fisted ‘reinvention’ of a character who is already a masterpiece. He should have stuck to filming gangster flops.
