Amy Winehouse Drinks Because She’s Bored

Amy Winehouse‘s mom says the troubled singer has turned to alcohol because she’s bored.
Janis Winehouse told British magazine Closer that Amy, 25, started drinking because she hates being away from her friends while she is staying in St Lucia.
“Two of her closest friends are going over to try to calm her down a bit,” she said. “I think it will make a big difference because in the past few weeks she’s been bored.
“Amy knows her drinking ruined the performance [at the St Lucia Jazz Festival]. Of course her band is frustrated, but even they can’t stop her.”
Janis says Amy’s dad Mitch — who has supported her throughout her addiction problems – is “now having time out from her”.
“He hasn’t cut her off,” she said. “But he’s taken a step back.”
Alcohol, Janis adds, “is just another one of Amy’s addictions getting the better of her. It’s yet another demon she has to beat.
“She came off drugs on her own so I know she’ll stop drinking too much too. It has to be her decision though, no one else can stop her.”
