Angelina Jolie Too Old For Tomb Raider

Angelina Jolie as Lara CroftAngelina Jolie won’t be starring any future Tomb Raider movies — she’s been deemed too old.

The Hollywood superstar — who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt — played the role of Lara Croft in the first two Tomb Raider films in 2001 and 2003, but movie bosses will replace the 33-year-old with a younger star for the next installment.

“We are rebooting Lara Croft,” said producer Dan Lins. “It’s a great story that we’re going to tell, very character-orientated and more realistic than the past movies. It is an origin tale so it’s going to be a younger Lara Croft.

“It will have character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character.”

Transformers star Megan Fox, 23, is now being tipped to replace Jolie.

“Megan is definitely a strong candidate for the part,” a source said earlier this year.

    Brilliant – let’s just ruin another good series by replacing the lead every 5 years with mindless twits who have no personality…megan fox doesn’t have the personality for this and I for one will not be paying to see any more tomb raider movies…Jolie made the movies imo, and i don’t care how old she is, she’s still hott! I see one more movie with a different actress then they’ll sell it to sci-fi where all the junk series go LOL Thanks, I’ll wait until it hits torrentz before i watch it. Sellouts…

    Nah, Angelina is still one of the best Lara Crofts in the world but Megan Fox is cool yet, in the Tomb Raider series you gotta be tough and beautiful, Angelina is definetly both but I do hope they make new Tomb Raider movies, can’t wait, hope she makes one movie with Hugh Jackman!!!

    There should be a petition to keep Angelina in the lead role. I am sure Angelina would be fine in portraying a younger Lara Croft. Megan Fox is the next acceptable actress to play the part.

    Successful series stay with the same actor. Even the most successful, the Bond series, has hiccups when they switch actors. Batman was always weak because of the rotating leads. Indy Jones was strong because of Harrison Ford. Yes, eventually, like Bond, sometimes you have to. But Jolie too old? What they really mean is she now costs too much!

    How idiotic! Jolie is a terrific action figure. She’s not a namby-pamby, she’s got a thing going with her weapons, and she’s just great in the role. Why change a good thing? 33 is too old? Somebody ought to tell Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, and the Bond guys that. Jolie’s got a whole lot more Croft in her. If she’d put on some weight to hide the veins in her hands, she’d be perfect.

    Megan Fox is a wooden actress. She will have no chance in the dare devil stunts Jolie did on her own. I hope the Lara Croft that they’re looking for is someone who just tries to smile and look nice because that’s just about what Megan Fox can do. Get the girl with balls back. 34 is not old. This is Hollywood yet again making assumptions on what they think ‘fits’. What age was Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman again??? Oh yeah, 34.

    angelina jolie is a bad actress and of course she can’t play a younger version of a character she played (poorly)many years ago.

    She was a horrible Lara and I was never able to play that game ever again since I saw that movie. Horrible. Just horrible.
