Britney Spears was on Prozac at age 18.
The Toxic singer was prescribed the anti-depressant drug to combat the “massive anxieties” she suffered during the European leg of her Oops! I Did It Again tour in the winter of 2000.
“She had trouble sleeping and crying fits,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “She was restless and agitated.
“Nights were the only times she was alone and she struggled with that… When nothing was happening, it drove her crazy. Only exhaustion would knock her out.”
In a new interview with Britain’s More! magazine, the 27-year-old superstar says she is finally learning how to relax.
“I feel positive, I feel much happier, and things are looking good again,” she said. “I’m learning to relax more and take everything in my stride, and to not place so much pressure on myself.
“I’m learning to take better care of myself and not get stressed or down about things for nothing. I’m taking my time these days and not letting myself feel any pressure other than to just feel happy and to work on my music.”
