Angelina Jolie is ‘Desired by All’

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie is more than just the world’s most powerful celebrity — she’s desirable, too.

The actress, 34, graces the cover of July’s Harper’s Bazaar.

But Jolie — who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt — isn’t interviewed for the piece.

Instead, writer Naomi Wolf explores why the world’s so fascinated by all things Angelina.

On Jolie’s relationship with Pitt, Wolf writes, “She took for her own pleasure the male seen as the most desired of the tribe. Brad Pitt, who is always ranked at the top of indexes of male beauty and virility.”

On the actress’ six children, “Jolie revealed a new, and fairly radical, vision of single motherhood that made the relationship seem tender, glamorous, and complete,” Wolf writes.

On Jolie’s philanthropy, “Her intense work on behalf of stricken women and children worldwide solidified her status as an unconventional role model,” Wolf writes, “and the rapid adoption of additional children turned the Jolie-Pitt story into one of family devotion and global idealism.”

Jolie’s pilot’s license adds to her mystique, Wolf adds, “Flying a private plane is the classic metaphor for choosing your own direction. Usually, that is a guy thing to do, yet there was Jolie, with her aviator glasses on, taking flying lessons so she could blow the mind of her four-year-old son.”

So what’s next for Jolie?

“No way to tell,” Wolf explains, “but I am certain, given the knack she has shown for tapping into this female collective unconscious, that we will watch with more than ordinary interest.”

    Are you crazy – who wants to be like her? I dread being near to fake and promiscuous people like her, she is the essence of moral-free behaviour. I hope we all happen to meet fewer people like her in our lives. If I saw her I would not even bother to take her picture and I would say loudly to her what she did, otherwise she really thinks everyone adores her and everyone thinks she is a good person.

    Just a bunch of haters the three of you. Angelina kicks ass! I love her and she is quite literally the only woman in the world that I AM fascinated with and would live to be more like. Forget Brad Pitt! She lives by her own rules, loves her children – adopted or not, is a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador for the poor (you should Google that), flies her own plane, travels the world, kicks some serious butt in her movies and doing many of her own stunts, and is drop-dead gorgeous to boot! You three probably sit on the couch eating bon-bons while your husbands flirt with the busty secretary. Nothing Angelina would know about!

    I find it oh so interesting that we spend our time and money reporting and reading about people we don’t know. I don’t know Ms. Jolie but I wouldn’t mind at all having her money or her looks. I don’t need Pitt. That doesn’t mean I don’t like myself. I can admire her, and lots of other people, learn what I can from their success and then go make my own. We all keep the wheel turning. Life without diversity would be really boring and life with all Angelina’s would be equally as boring. We’ll never know what she is really like or anyone for that matter. Right or wrong, she does her own thing and in my book that is admirable. I think it even more bizarre that we’ve made her that wealthy and that we support magazines like Harper’s that talk about other people’s lives as if we were all supposed to be like those people. I never read the magazine myself…just happened to see this on-line…she is fascinating I’ll give her that.

    Sure she is fascinating and beautiful, but that doe not mean i want to be her! Entertainers don’t live in the real world. I am Sorry but I don’t think actors should make millions of dollars to make a movie! Soldiers, teachers, firfighters, polcemen,social workers, nurses and etc, these people are the real heros! They make a difference, not the entertainment people!

    I have lived here in Springfield, Missouri most of my life. Brad went to the same school as I. I( can can tell you from his past actions that hes has not changed to much. Jolie and him deserve each other. They may be pretty on the outside, but, on the inside (The part that really counts for those who don’t know) are rats, a husband stealer and a husband that let her steal him. Who would want to be like them? Not me and my kids was brought up with the same values. Oh, by the way Brad thanks for the nod of your head at the pizza place durning Christmas…. What a guy!     Wow! A bunch of people who don’t like Angelina Jolie, and Brad Pitt, interesting. Yet, took time to read the article and post their angry comments. A guy who would rather watch his dog take a dump, then throws out a dig because Brad Pitt only nodded in his direction when they recognized one another at a local pizza joint? He hurt your feelings? You wanted others to see him chatting it up w/you so as to be a mini-celeb in your home town, be honest!

    They seem to be beautiful on the inside, as well as the outside. They practice what they preach. And no-one takes anyone away from anyone. Brad Pitt left his wife and would have done so with or w/o Angelina Jolie. Get real. Wake-up.

    This woman desirable? I think not. She is first of all an actor which by my opinion is right below drug dealer. She is a terrible representaiton of what a woman should look like and be. Tattooed all over with meaningless crapp and then to not adopt American children, of which there are many; is behond reproach. And to have children out of wed lock is of course a nice example for our young women. There are enough unwed mothers. She of course has the money so others can rasie the children whereas young women admiring her do not. Is this really what we want our children to aspire towards.

    To answer the guys comment about no interest in Pitt and Jolie but making negitive comments. When I saw the headline it I thought; good a chance to see if there is really any redeaming value to her. After reading the story I concluded as I thought; no none at all.

    Angelina is the cat’s meooow !! She is sensational, smart, beautiful, talented, a very good person and more things than most of us will ever be. She didn’t steal anyone’s husband, that loser jen didn’t have what it takes to keep a boyfriend, let alone a husband. Stop blaming Angelina for jen’s problems. Think about it! Brad was spending all his time alone. That is until he met Angelina Jolie, the most gorgeous, just fabulous woman of our time!!! Bravo to Angelina. May God continue to bless her always.

    I don’t care to look like or be like Angelina. She’s the appidimey of moral behavior. She is attractive and connivingly smart. There are many more women a great deal bit more attractive with better personalities than hers. In this case, Brad is the foolish one. Thought the grass was greener on the other side, and finding out it isn’t. Anyway, Brad had to deal with Angelina for the rest of his life, married or not, because Angelina gave birth to his kids. Most women would stay away from him now.

    NO WAY do i want to be like her. Yes, it would be FABULOUS to lead the life of a movie star. But not Angelina Jolie. She’s borderline psycho…not to mention a home wrecker. Let’s not forget that she stole Brad from another, while he was STILL MARRIED. And of course she’d be happy to have him…DUH. Have you forgotten about who her past relationships were? Ewww. Come on…..Billy Bob Thorton. Ew. seriously. Oh yea, and then there is always the stunt that she pulled when she kissed her brother on national television. My God. Even her father says she’s nuts. There you have it.

    It’s obvious all the negative comments are from people who are jealous of her. I think she’s nuts too but she is using her fame to actually make a difference in others’ lives. Why do you think Brad was attracted to her? He’s a Midwesterner with good values. He dumped Jennifer Aniston because all she cared about was herself and her career. Look at all the pics of Jolie in the magazines–she’s working overseas to made a difference, adopting kids, etc–Aniston is just laying on beaches trying to find someone to date her. My guess is most of you comment writers are out of shape women who hate all people better looking than you.

    I don’t want to be like Angelina Jolie, but I admire quite a few of her actions and characters. She has guts, who live her life the way she wants, as long as it doesn’t hurt herself and anyone else. With regard to Brat Pitt, nobody can make any body leaves a relationship if he/she doesn’t want to. She lets her actions speak for itself. For those who has negative comments about her, “try to clean out the big pile of trash on your lawn before picking a dead leaf on her yard”. She makes a lot of $$, yes, and she doesn’t have to share it or give it away if she doesn’t want to. She did. She doesn’t have to go far and wide to care for the unfortunate since she can just stay in USA and enjoy her luxurious life. She went and became the UN embassador any way. When is the last time you did a small good deed to your neighbor/friend/childern???
