Madonna to Transform Mercy’s Life

Mercy James — the Malawian orphan Madonna has just adopted — will have her life transformed “beyond recognition” when she moves in with the superstar singer.
Malawi’s highest court on Friday overturned the original ruling which denied the pop superstar’s adoption bid allowing her second adoption from the country.
The Supreme Court of Appeal said that a lower court failed to take modern realities into account in initially rejecting Madonna’s application to adopt the 3-year-old.
Previously, a judge and a lawyer told reporters that Madonna, 50, did not meet a requirement that prospective parents must be resident in the country for 18 to 24 months.
Mercy — whose mother Mwandida died in childbirth aged 15 — is now moving to Kumbali Lodge, 50-year-old Madonna’s luxury home in Malawi.
“Her life will now change beyond recognition.,” an insider told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “The next few months will be very strange but Madonna has a tight team around her to ensure that the transition is as smooth and loving as possible.”
Madonna’s lawyer Alan Chinula is organizing official paperwork to allow Mercy to leave the country with her new carers.
She could fly out by private jet for New York as early as this week and be united with her new sister Lourdes, 12, and brothers Rocco, eight, and David, three.
Mercy’s biological father, James Kambewa, abandoned the child and her mother before she was born, but insists he still wants to be part of her life.
“Let the child go. My only plea to Madonna is that she should seriously look after the child,” he said.
“I am asking to make sure that, while the child is growing, she must be informed of me as her biological father.”
