Sandra Bullock: ‘Being a Parent is Not About Breeding’

Sandra BullockSandra Bullock admits it “hurts” that she doesn’t have children of her own — but insists one doesn’t need to “breed” in order to be a parent.

The actress is stepmother to her husband Jesse James‘ two children from his first marriage, and his daughter Sunny from his second wife, porn star Janine Lindemulder.

“I may never hear that word ‘mom’. But being a parent is not about breeding,” says Bullock. “It’s about caring. And it’s easy to say, but it’s harder to do.

“When you don’t have that title, you flounder and it hurts. But this is the best test of being a parent. And I just have to keep reminding myself I don’t care what I get. I care what I give.”

Bullock, 44, recently insisted that James supports her when it comes to doing nude scenes with her male costars.

“No one understands the process better than Jesse does,” she said. “He’s not gonna like it — he doesn’t like it — but I wouldn’t want it any other way. If he was like, ‘I don’t care’, I’d be like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’ It’s not an easy thing for any spouse to watch, but he understands and so he supports me.”
