Kate Winslet wore a pubic wig for her nude scenes in The Reader.

The British star plays a Nazi guard in the movie and was required to disrobe on camera for the role, which won her the Best Actress gong at the 2009 Academy Awards.

“The film is set in the 1950s. I couldn’t just have a landing strip! I had to grow the hair down there,” she said. “But because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn’t come back quite the way it used to.

“They even made me a merkin — a wig – because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough.”

Kate, 33, recently insisted her life isn’t perfect.

“I don’t have a perfect life,” she said. “There are things I could implement within my life that would probably make it easier.

“But I deliberately don’t do it because if I did, I would be living that movie star existence that I really try and resist.”
