There’s tensions brewing in Hollywood!
Angelina Jolie is apparently furious that Transformers star Megan Fox has been tipped to steal her leading role in the next Tomb Raider film.
Jolie — who played Lara Croft in the first two Tomb Raider films in 2001 and 2003 — was recently deemed too old to reprise the role.
“We are rebooting Lara Croft,” said producer Dan Lins. “It’s a great story that we’re going to tell, very character-orientated and more realistic than the past movies. It is an origin tale so it’s going to be a younger Lara Croft.
“It will have character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character.”
The prequel will focus on Lara Croft’s younger years, so Jolie will will likely be given the boot in favor of Fox.
“Angie was intent on reprising her role,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. “She feels it’s something she helped define and feels robbed that it looks likely to be handed to someone who she considers less capable than her.
“Angie isn’t a fan of the Transformers films and believes Megan won’t do the Lara Croft character justice. She’s also annoyed because she thinks Megan copies everything from her, from her tattoos to her style.”
“Angelina,” is firing back, added the source, “she is collaborating on a concept with a new sexy female action character which will absolutely blow Megan out of the water.”
