Following on from Thursday’s reports Michael Jackson died of a drugs overdose, British newspaper The Sun has more details on the claim.
The paper says Jackson collapsed and stopped breathing after an injection of a powerful painkiller named Demerol.
Jacko, 50, was said to be addicted to the drug, which is similar to morphine, and it is feared he took an overdose.
Brian Oxman, the Jackson family attorney, told CNN that the superstar had a very serious problem with prescription medication, and that the people that were surrounding him were enablers. “If you think the case with Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, it’s nothing in comparison to what we have seen taking place in Michael Jackson’s life,” Oxman said.
The star was due to begin a series of comeback concerts with an appearance at London’s O2 arena on July 13.
A spokeswoman for The Outside Organisation, which was organizing the publicity for the shows, said she had no comment at this time.
He had a history of health problems and had not completed a concert tour in 12 years.
