Michael Jackson has topped the album chart and made six new entries in the singles top 40 — just days after his tragic death.

The pop superstar’s greatest hits album, Number Ones, raced to the top spot from No.121, while four other albums made it to the top 20.

Jacko featured in 43 of the top 200 singles and Man In The Mirror re-entered the charts at No.11 — 20 years after its release.

Jackson, 50, died Thursday after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles.

“Almost overnight HMV experienced an 80-fold increase in demand for his music. This is the biggest one-day rise in sales we have seen for any artist,” said HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo.

The singer’s last British No.1 was back in 2003, with his Number Ones album.

“It’s really no surprise Number Ones has gone to the top of the official UK album charts, which pretty much has all his greatest hits on, and is the CD most people have been going for,” Castaldo added.

Thriller surged from No.179 to No.7.

King Of Pop reached No.14, Off The Wall got to No.17 and The Essential Michael Jackson came in three places lower.
