Michael Jackson Won’t be Buried at Neverland

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson isn’t being buried at his Neverland ranch, despite recent reports to the contrary.

It was claimed that the King of Pop — who died Thursday after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home — wanted his former home to be his final resting place.

“Michael wanted Neverland to be his final resting place but wasn’t sure the authorities would give permission,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper.

“It would give fans a place to focus on and a place to visit. Neverland would become a place of pilgrimage. It would also leave his heirs a legacy which could be worth billions.”

But Michael’s dad, Joe Jackson, has shot down the claims, saying, “That’s not true.”

Speaking outside the family’s Los Angeles compound at midday Monday, Joe said planning for the pop star’s funeral is awaiting results of a second autopsy.

The Jackson patriarch said that the second autopsy is under way, but he expects results soon. The county coroner conducted an autopsy on Friday but has deferred a decision on the cause of death.

Joe also says that Michael’s children are happy and are in the company of other children about their own age.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who spent the morning with the Jacksons, says consideration of how to celebrate the legacy of the pop star must be done carefully.
