Vanessa Hudgens wants to sink her teeth into a “beefy” movie role.
The High School Musical star is sick and tired of playing the nice girl and wants to branch out to playing more challenging roles.
The actress says she is keen to get her teeth into a dramatic role — even if it means she has to cry all day.
“I am taking it one step at a time — as with everything — but I would love to be able to sink my teeth into something beefy and just cry the entire time,” she said.
“I feel like a drama is always a great thing when you want to challenge yourself and really sink in to something.”
The 20-year-old recently revealed that she’s taking a break from starring in musicals.
“I mean, I love musicals, I really do. I grew up doing them, so it’ll always have a place in my heart,” she told MTV. “At the same time, it’s nice to be able to separate the two and just be able to focus on films. It’s a lot of fun playing different characters and taking on new journeys.
“Honestly, I’m kind of taking a break from music right now. I’m just focusing on films and acting. I feel like when I’m doing something I really want, I focus on that and try to not spread myself all over the place.”
