Michael Jackson’s Ex-Wife Will Fight For The Kids

Posted by Adam

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson‘s ex-wife Debbie Rowe wants custody of the two children she had with the tragic King of Pop — and the Jackson family is reportedly keen to pay her off so they can keep them.

Rowe wed Jackson in 1996 (he was a patient in the dermatologist’s office, where she worked as a nurse). They divorced in 1999.

Rowe and Jackson had two children together: Prince, 12 and Paris, 11. During her custody fight with Jacko, Rowe agreed to give up her parental rights, insisting he was a good father.

Prince, Paris and Michael’s other son, Blanket, 7, are currently living with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, at the Jackson family’s mansion in Encino, Calif.

“Debbie believes Katherine has a good heart, but the life they would live with the Jacksons is unthinkable,” a source told America’s OK! magazine. “They belong away from the media circus. Kids need fresh air and freedom. They can’t get that at the mansion in Encino.”

“She’s likely to walk away with a lump sum of money if she agrees not to seek custody,” the source added. “She will probably end up with $100 million. It would be worth paying out, from the Jackson family’s point of view, to prevent a tug-of-war for the children.”

In a recent interview, Rowe said Jackson “didn’t keep his end” of their agreement.

“I want my children,” she said during a 90-minute phone conversation with NBCLA.

“I am stepping up. I have to.”

“We had an agreement… he didn’t keep his end,” Rowe said, referring to Jackson’s death. “It hasn’t been easy. It’s been painful.”

Michael’s younger sister, Janet Jackson, has promised to be around for the kids. “She told them if they need her for any reason, even just to talk or if they want pizza, to call her immediately,” the source said.

Jackson, 50, died Thursday (June 25) after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles.
