Drew Barrymore will get to live like a journalist for her next movie role.

The He’s Not Just Not That Into You star will be spending a week in a real newsroom to shoot scenes for In Going The Distance.

In the flick, which is due to hit theaters in 2011, Barrymore and her ex-boyfriend Justin Long play long-distance lovers.

Drew’s character works at fictional newspaper the New York Sentinel, but will be filming the scenes at news agency Associated Press.

Meanwhile, news-gathering will continue around her as usual by reporters.

New York’s Daily News, based in the same Manhattan office building as AP’s headquarters, will also play a part in the film, appearing as a fictional rival newspaper to the Sentinel.
