Fergie is cleaning up her act — because she wants to be a good role model to her legions of young fans.
The Black Eyed Peas star has promised to watch what she says while onstage.
“I wasn’t trying to be a role model with [album] The Dutchess,” the singer tells August’s Marie Claire. “But suddenly, seeing little girls in the audience with their moms made me think about what I do onstage a little bit more.
“I had to watch my mouth, because it can be filthy. It changed things for me.”
The singer say’s she’s been busy at the gym losing the he 17 pounds she gained for her role as Saraghina, a prostitute, in new movie Nine — which premieres this November.
“I’ve been busting my ass, training,” she says. “Being around the guys, they’re like a fraternity — I know what they look at. I don’t want to have a song like My Humps and it be sagging down, so I pay attention to that area. A lot.”
Fergie — who wed actor Josh Duhamel earlier this year — says that after past relationship issues, it’s good to be secure.
“I’ve been in a lot of relationships that were exciting but unhealthy, very Sid-and-Nancy-esque,” she says, referring to doomed couple Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and girlfriend Nancy Spungen. “I wanted somebody I could count on. [And] with all the craziness of this business, I know I can count on my man – and he knows he can count on me.”
