Simon Cowell Denies American Idol Contract Rumors

Simon Cowell has shot down rumors he has signed a whopping $144-million deal to return to American Idol.
“I wish! Come off it,” he told US TV show Extra. “It’s absolute nonsense… crazy, crazy nonsense. Speculation. Not true. Nothing has been signed.
“There hasn’t been a deal done,” he added. “We’re talking to FOX. We have a very good relationship with them. As to what we’re going to do ongoing over a number of different bits and pieces…we’ll see… we are having conversations.”
Meanwhile, host Ryan Seacrest has closed a three-year deal with CKX, parent of Idol producer 19 Entertainment, worth $15 million per year.
