Madonna’s Stage Collapses: Six Injured, One Dead

A stage being built for a weekend Madonna concert in Marseille, France collapsed today, killing one and injuring six.
“I am devastated to have just received this tragic news. My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news,” the singer said in a statement.
The accident occurred during construction of the stage for the pop superstar’s show at the Velodrome Stadium at 5:15 p.m. local time (11:15 a.m. EST) when the roof accidentally fell in.
Police and fire officials have closed the stadium while trying to rescue those still trapped.
French papers say the concert has been canceled.
