John Travolta Not Quitting Scientology

John TravoltaJohn Travolta has shot down claims he’s planning to leave the Church of Scientology.

It was reported at the weekend that the Grease star was ken to distance himself from the controversial religion, of which he has been a prominent and generous benefactor, following the death of his 16-year-old son Jett.

Jett died on January 2, 2009 after suffering a seizure at the Travolta family holiday home in the Bahamas.

Travolta is said to be angry that Scientology was unable to help Jett, who was widely reported to have suffered from autism.

But Travolta’s rep has spoken out to set the record straight.

“There’s no change in the relationship between the Church of Scientology and John,” said spokesman Paul Bloch. “He is a member and it’s as it was, now and forever.”

The report — by Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper — also claimed that if Travolta leaves the church, the organization will go public with embarrassing details of his private life, including, it is claimed, allegations of past homosexual relationships.

“There have been strong rumors coming out of Scientology that John Travolta is disappointed that the religion was not able to help his son more,’ Rick Ross, an American author and lecturer on Scientology, told the paper. “It’s led him to question his faith.

“I think it would be very difficult for John Travolta at this stage, given his history with the religion, to extricate himself from the Church of Scientology.

“It would be a huge move on his part because Scientology keeps files on its celebrity members containing embarrassing personal information about them.

“And Scientology has proven in the past that it has a penchant for releasing that information to embarrass people who have left and who have said things it doesn’t like.

“If celebrities leave, they tend to do it quietly and keep their mouths shut, because if they do speak out, they are opening themselves up to attack from Scientology.

“That’s why I think Travolta will want to keep his problems with the Church private.”

This blog post started of as news and ended up as gossip. Can someone post the news for once!

  2. It is amazing how many “authorities”, like Rick Ross, know nothing about the Church of Scientology or, perhaps, have other agenda that support their lies about the Church. Everyone says that celebrities stay in Scientology because of their fear of what the Church will do in retaliation and one blog listed a long list of celebrities that have supposedly been in Scientology and then left the Church, yet no one can quote any retaliation from Scientology. I have worked with Scientologist for years and I have the utmost respect for the individuals and the organization. I have never been associated with a more ethical and trustworthy group. Just the good they are doing in the world would naturally make this type of criticism look embarrassingly foolish.

Don’t believe all of the dark stories that sell press. The truth isn’t hard to find out if you believe in your own counsel. It is no surprise that John has squelched the vicious tabloid rumors. No one would leave their faith in times of tragedy. It is only sad and uncalled for that he has to hear about attacks on his faith when he is grieving such a loss.

In a society where it is rightfully inappropriate to discriminate on other’s sexual orientation, race, religion and many personal choices, why is it okay to condemn another’s religious choice and not give others the benefit of the doubt that they protected by the same laws that give all of us the freedom of religion and choice. There is plenty in this world to criticize without ever attacking one’s religious choice and practice.

The “Church of Scientology” has embarrassing files?
Duh. What do you think all the mandatory audits are about?
