Mischa Barton recently left the hospital and returned to work — and her pals are worried she’s doing too much, too soon.

The actress — who was placed under psychiatric hold on July 15 — has returned to the set of her CW show The Beautiful Life, her rep said earlier this week.

And while the show’s producers are confident that Barton can handle her workload, her friends apparently aren’t so sure.

“Mischa needs more aggressive treatment over a long period of time,” a source told the New York Daily News. “It’s only been a matter of days since she was released from the hospital, and I think she definitely wasn’t there long enough.

“She needs to be very cautious — she’s at a very big risk. I personally think it’s a bad idea to go back this quickly, given her past history with substance abuse.”

“She’s obviously feeling better if she’s back to work,” added another source. “She’s excited to be a part of the show, and she’s very focused on it.”

It had been claimed that prior to Mischa being sectioned, she had been on a three day drugs binge, leaving friends fearing for her life.

“She’s in very bad shape,” a source told the New York Post. “She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral.

“She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess.”
