Vanessa Williams is no diva!

The actress insists she is nothing like her Ugly Betty character Wilhelmina Slater — and finds it “funny” that people often think she’s going to be mean.

“Most of the time I don’t look like Wilhelmina, so I’ll slip though the cracks,” Williams told the UK’s Now magazine in a new interview. “But if they recognize me, kids are the ones who are a little nervous.

“I take my daughter to Disneyland and there’s a bunch of kids, they’ll look at me and move away because they assume I’ll be mean. I think people are afraid to approach me because they think I’m diva and that’s kind of funny. Then they see me with my kids and they’re fine.”

Asked if she thinks Wilhelmina will ever be friends with Betty, Williams said, “Wilhelmina’s certainly grown to live with her. I think she sees in Betty a little piece of herself — not that she’s a threat.

“But I think in the two tender moments that have been written for Betty and Wilhelmina — when they’ve both been left solo after an emotional let down — there’s certainly a bond. So I definitely think that she sees herself reflected in Betty — but not in the clothing department!”
