Katie Holmes has shot down reports she’s gunning for a role in the upcoming Sex and The City movie sequel.

It had been claimed that Tom Cruise‘s wife was in talks to play a feisty businesswoman who rivals Kim Cattrall‘s man-eating character Samantha.

“The character they want her to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha,” a source said.

But a rep for the former Dawson’s Creek star insists there’s “no truth” to the rumor.

Holmes, 30, is currently in Australia filming on the set of low-budget indie flick Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.

Shooting for the Sex and the City flick begins in the autumn, with release set for May 2010.
