Michael Jackson’s Mother Granted Custody of His Kids
Michael Jackson’s 79-year-old mother, Katherine Jackson, will become the permanent guardian of her tragic son’s three children, a Los Angeles judge ruled Monday.
Katherine has been caring for Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II since the singer’s death on June 25.
The ruling follows a reported agreement with Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe, the mother of the two eldest children.
The singer had nominated his mother to raise his children in a 2002 will.
In a telephone interview that aired on Sunday’s Geraldo at Large on Fox News, Katherine said the children “are doing fine.”
The Jackson matriarch also blasted rumors that her husband Joe Jackson has been banned from seeing them.
“I don’t know why they’re saying he’s not being allowed in the house,” she said.
“My husband’s never done nothing of the sort that they trying to say he did 39 years ago. I don’t understand that, and I just believe it’s something that they cooked up.”
Asked if Joe is a good grandfather, Katherine replied, “Of course, he is. And the children will tell you that he is.”
She also addressed accusations surrounding Dr. Conrad Murray, who reportedly gave her son Michael a lethal dose of anesthetic Propofol the night before his June 25 death at the age of 50.
“All I know is that my son is dead, and I don’t think he just died of natural causes or whatever,” she said. “He’s too young for that. Something happened, I don’t know what it was and I can’t say.”
Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff also granted Mrs Jackson a monthly allowance from her son’s estate.
The amount was not disclosed, but the judge ordered the allowance to be applied retrospectively to June and be reviewed after six months.
Jackson’s children were also approved a monthly allowance which will be reviewed after the same period.
