Michael Jackson‘s mother is pleased with the outcome of Monday’s court proceedings.
Katherine Jackson, 79, was granted full custody of her tragic son’s three children — Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II. Katherine has been caring for the kids since Michael’s death on June 25.
The ruling follows a reported agreement with Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe, the mother of the two eldest children.
The singer had nominated his mother to raise his children in a 2002 will.
“Mrs. Jackson and family are very pleased with the outcome in court today,” Katherine’s lawyer, Londell McMillan, told Entertainment Tonight Monday.
As for the judge deciding that music executive John McClain and attorney John Branca, the two men named as co-executors in Jackson’s 2002 will, will administer Jackson’s estate until early October, McMillan says: “We’re anxious to put this matter behind us.
“The law allows Mrs. Jackson the right to assert her claims to protect her son’s estate and legacy. We shall pursue such rights by all appropriate means.”
Meanwhile, in a new interview with People magazine, Jackson family friend Kathy Hilton — Paris’ mom — insists Katherine is more than capable of looking after the children.
“I adore Mrs. Jackson. Katherine is the rock,” said Hilton. “It [Katherine's house] is like Camp Jackson, all of those kids. All the aunts, the uncles, the children come there. She plays Scrabble with them. She loves it.
“I think that’s what keeps her really young.”
Asked if Katherine has the energy to watch over her three grandkids, Hilton responded: “Ohhh, she’s got the energy.”
