Tori Spelling has a confession — she’s not as confident as she looks.

The actress admits that despite appearances, she is actually quite shy and retiring.

And she says if she could pass on one bit of advice to young girls it would be to have more trust in themselves.

“It took me years to figure out how to work on myself and work out things from within and trust my instincts and trust who I was and believe in myself,” she said. “I just think that girls out there have so many opportunities and if they could just start learning that confidence at a younger age, that would be the best thing.”

Tori, 36, recently insisted that despite her privileged upbringing, she is actually very normal.

“A lot of people have these preconceived ideas about me — that I was on 90210, I am rich and I had a nose job. So other than that people are like ‘Who is she?’” she said.

“I just want people to know the real me because they probably see that I am in extraordinary circumstances but I am still pretty much like them deep down. I have to deal with poopie diapers just like every other mommy.”
