Chace Crawford hopes you’ll all make the effort to go see his new movie Footloose — because he has to spend 9 months preparing for the part!

The Gossip Girl hunk, 24, is set to take on Kevin Bacon‘s role of Ren McCormack in the remake of the 1984 musical.

And he’s already training hard ready to start filming next year.

“We don’t start shooting till March, but I started getting into some training,” he said. “I’m going to need the whole nine months to really get to where I need to be.”

Asked about his skills on the dance floor, Chace said, “I have some movement and I’m really happy to learn a lot of new stuff, but I’m counting on the magical editing to make me look really good!

“But they put me through a screen test, which was pretty rigorous, so I must have the foundation for it.”
