Patrick Swayze ‘Using Marijuana’

Posted by Adam

Patrick SwayzePatrick Swayze has been using marijuana as he battles aggressive pancreatic cancer, it has been claimed.

According to the National Enquirer, the Dirty Dancing star, 56, has found that smoking pot helps ease his nausea, insomnia and anxiety.

“He’s recently gained a little weight and feels more normal than he has in months,” a source told the tabloid.

“Patrick was rapidly losing weight because he couldn’t keep food down.

“He was so weak, he needed help getting around.”

Friends persuaded Patrick to try marijuana, disclosed the insider, and it seems to have helped.

“Patrick and his brother Donnie get together almost every day and smoke a joint,” the source added. “They have been seen smoking weed on the roof of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center while Patrick was getting a treatment.”

“Marijuana works extremely well” for many cancer patients, said Dr. Ron Kennedy, a physician in Santa Rosa, Calif., who provides medicinal marijuana. “It helps fight nausea from chemotherapy treatments and may alleviate anorexia or lack of appetite.”

Nothing wrong with that. Marijuana should be used to fight cancer. All we need is our Federal government to recognize this powerful natural pain killer. Actually, marijuana should be made legal. There is no reason why it should remain illegal. Its not worse than alcohol or tobacco. Prohibition has failed. Tax and regulate marijuana!!

  • sha lee

Marijuana has been abused by people that already have problems with drugs. It’s a mind thing some people become addicted to anything. I like to smoke to help alleviate stress, but can go for days without it. If it helps eating and pain and anxiety and the person doesn’t have drug problems, I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I am so happy he wasn’t afraid to come out about it. He knows what his body feels, and with marijuana therapy, he knows the truth and isn’t a man just wanting to get high.

Hi I`m writing all the way from South Africa, Durban.
My friends father used Mary jane (Marijuana) when he got ill also for the Nausea and to help him eat and keep it down. So I have no problem, carry on what you doing Patrick, you know your body and what helps. Also stay away from anything with sugar in it as this causes an acidic environment in the body which cancer thrives on acidity in the body.

    Keep strong and positive.

  • Judith

Hello this is 2009 and here (netherlands) you can buy it on every streetcorner as a figure of speach haha. So what’s the fuz?

  • Rachel

It’s about time that England legalised cannabis. If I had to have contact with a marijuana user or an alcohol user, I know which one I would talk too. Alcohol should have a higher classification that it does now!

  • denise

my father died of this horrible cancer 4yrs ago. This is a miserable cancer and if marijuana can help youin any way then do it. It should be legalized for use in cancer treatments as it really does seem to help. God bless Patrick and keep on fighting.

If anyone who has ever tried smoking pot, will remember that it gives you what is called ‘THE MUNCHIES’ that is why most women do not smoke this. It puts weight on. However, I have seen what cancer does to people. They are so sick that they cannot keep food down. Thank-God for marjuana, “THE MUNCHIES” will kick in at the right time for these patients. Smoke away.

I have bi-polar disorder, and clinical depression, and pot helps to ease these illnesses. I also know that pot helps cancer patients with keeping food down. Although smoking of any kind is a bad thing, some things are worse that others. If Drs give pot to patients for spific illnesses, who am I to argue?

  • http://showbiz debra dimezza

hurray..for anyone who’s smoking POT..for medical reasons let alone anyother reason..these doctors are quick to write out prescriptions for addicting pain-killers that do just that KILLS..last i knew i’ve never heard of anyone Dying from smoking pot..a “POT” overdose NEVER..maybe a extra trip to the frige..or the cookie jar…

  • Terri

Yes Pot SHOULD be legalized!! Alcohol kills so many every day..that’s the REAL gate-way drug if you ask me! Pot? So many GOOD things that it does! Ban the narcotics!! They’re killing millions!!! Use grass!

I served 13 years in the USMC until my career ended due to injuries I sustained while serving. For the few years before I was separated and ungoing treatment for my injuries, I was using 100mg Fentanyl pain patches 1:3 days, Norco 10/325 8 times a day, I was on 4 Blood Pressure meds, 2 Anxiety meds and sleeping meds. Needless to say, I was addicted to all that crap and it was absolutely HORRIBLE!
After I separated from Service, Med MJ was recommended as an alternative to the other crap I was using. After a couple weeks, I noticed remarkable improvement. My BP is now normal, my anxiety is controlled, my pain is more tolerable and the only thing I use these days is Medical MJ. I feel I’m in control of my issues for the first time in my life! (post injuries)
The sad part of this…All the Politicians appointed to represent us either need to die off or Retire before we’ll have a Government by the People, for the People. Until then, the old fashioned-jerkoff politicians that use their Office as a Corporate Welfare system, all while doing nothing for the people they DO NOT represent, can just suck my ASS!
You do relaize you work for us…..Right?

    Semper Fi America!

He didn’t “come out” about his medical marijuana use. He was outed by the National Enquirer and others. I hope he will do what my late wife did and use what time he has left (and I hope that is a long long time) to speak up…directly. He can do a lot of good for others because he has a voice that they don’t.

    Good luck Patrick.

  • facist

Bust him and Burn him, the hippie drug user. Cancer is just a lame excuse for getting high.

  • http://MSN.ca Sheena

    Hey patrick
please do not smoke any of those drugs u are sick i get that
    but can’t smoke that crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    it’s bad for your health
there is 50% chance that u can get better then do that kind of stuff
why are u doing this to yourself it is unsafe
    and unhealthy for u
you going to make yourself so much sicker then ever
    Love
    Sheena

  • http://MSN Charlene

I am glad that Patrick is using POT to help him with his treatment. It is goood to know that it is making him eel a little better and helping him gain some weight…

  • common sence

Sheena calm down, forget to take your meds today u sound like a paranoids schizo chill doll…

  • Kyle

People like Sheena are why it will never be legalized. Get informed. For the sake of everyone.

  • Alf

Marijuana is already widely used for cancer and HIV-AIDS patients, in a concentrated medicinal form called Marinol. There’s no need to smoke it but if he enjoys taking it that way that’s his choice. The man is dying for gods sake.

  • jw

my father has small cell lung cancer…he was diagnosed8 months ago with and 8 to 12 mth life expectancy…he is quickly going down hill..he also was prescribed medical marijuana in the pill form…this has not worked for his appetite…in the last 3 weeks he has lost approx. 15 or more pounds..he is so week that all he does is sleep..he does not eat or drink…his average meal for the day is 2 bites of a sandwich, two fish sticks…half a glass of pepsi…he is also against smoking pot…but let me tell all u haters out there…this type of cancer(sc) and pancreatic are just about the most devastating types of cancer that there are…not much of a life expectancy after diagnoses…if u had seen ur father go from the big bear protector of the house to where i see my father at now(he can hardly walk because he cannot eat), u would try anything..he is starving to death…u can see every muscle in his arms…then u would shut up..it is a natural herb..lay off and let dying people do what they like…imagine if u were told that u have less than a year to live or if it were ur brother or sister…lay off!!!

  • Cara

Its a proven fact that prescription drugs have harmful side effects and don’t always give 100% relief…if MJ gives that relief with minimal if no side effects at all…i don’t see the problem…even though i’m not am MJ smoker, its not my place to get on my podium and start preaching, especially about something i have no first hand experience with…if it helps people with medical conditions, whatever they may be…then all the best to them.

  • http://showbizspy sheri

Why do we know this about Mr.Swayze’s or any person’s medical treatment if he did not tell us? This is NO ONE’S BUSINESS but the patient and the doctors. Even famous people should be given privacy and respect when they are receiving medical treatment. Give the man a break, not because he is famous, but because he is a fellow human being. And Scott, God Bless You for serving our country and being honest!

I have been operated on five times for cancer. I am now taking
medicine for depression, high blood pressure, etc., etc.
I take methadone twice a day along with Lyrica, a strong pain
medication. When my doctors asks what level my pain is from 1 to 10. I always answer 8 1/2 sometimes 9. He always states,
“that’s good, we don’t want to alleviate the pain completely.
Yes, I do! And if I could find a doctor who would p rescribe
medicinal marajuana….I would crawl to them. With all the medication I take (17 pills a day), I also shake so very hard.
I truly hope that the MJ gives Patrick some relief from everything that he goes through each day. Stay strong, fight hard and remember that you have lots of people praying for you.
Good luck to you too Scott. You are a heroe.

  • debra

thanks scott for your service, my mom has lung cancer and if it’d give her any relief i’d ask her to please try it what’s it gonna hurt?

I have a best friend fighting cancer for possible the 3rd time. Has done everything right, done the chemo, etc, even had stem cell transplant that ate all the bones in his body. He had to have all his teeth removed and after 10 months of literal starvation finally got dentures. He’s only 35 years old and it breaks my heart that none of the doctors will listen or believe how much pain he is in. They did say he was starving to death, but with all the pain and no teeth, he went from a big 6’2″ 200lb police officer to 140lb on a good day that had to give up a job he loved because he has no energy. during the 2nd go around, he was prescribed marinol and it seemed to help. He would absolutely use marijuana if a doctor would prescribe it now. I’ve seen how it works & I agree with the others comments that its better than alcohol and prescription drugs. Also, Scott, you’re story is very inspiring and thank you so much for your service to this country. I have many friends who are currently on active duty. Good luck to you. And to Patrick, I will pray that you use anything you can to alleviate the pain and nausea.

I think it is funny that we live in a time in which a celebrity using marijuana for medical purposes is “news”. I haven’t seen any “news” stories lately about a celebrity drinking whisky to treat a cold. Although some have been preoccupied with President Obama’s cigarette smoking.

Someone NEEDS to tell Patrick about HEMP OIL.
He can actually cure the cancer by ingesting, not smoking, hemp oil which contains THC the active ingredient in hemp. He would still get the same benefits of smoking it, actually he can still smoke it.
But he needs to ingest the oil itself. THC kills cancer cells.
Google THC and Cancer. The proof is there.
Someone please help him out if you can somehow contact him.
