Amy Adams felt “really bad” for her fiance on the night he proposed — because all she could think about was her last day at work.

The actress — who stars alongside Meryl Streep in new movie Julie and Julia — admits she was distracted when her boyfriend-of-six-years, Darren La Gallo, got down on one knee.

“I got engaged the night before we wrapped Julie and Julia,” she said. “It was funny because I was actually running lines from the script in my head while we were taking this romantic carriage ride in Central Park.

“I felt really bad for Darren. I was like: ‘You should get a re-do because you were cheated.’ All I was thinking about was my last day at work.”

Talking about why she loves her future husband, Amy, 35, dished, “Darren gives up a lot and gives me a lot. He comes to visit me on set. He draws me a bath when I get home. “He’s an actor and also an artist and he sends me drawings. Just lots of sweet little things to keep us connected.”

Adams recently revealed that she’s been too busy to plan her wedding.

“I’ve been really busy, and I feel like a horrible fiancee that I haven’t gotten swept up in the whole idea of a wedding. But I just haven’t,” she said.

“He wants to be married. I think he was patient for the first nine months, but that we have been engaged for a year, he’s sort of, you know, ‘This is going to happen, right?’ He understands I’m busy but he’s ready. He’s much more ready for kids and stuff than I am.”
