Jessica Simspon‘s family still like her ex-beau Tony Romo — even though he unceremoniously dumped the singer the day before her 29th birthday.

“Jessica is just a really strong girl,” said Tina Simpson, Jessica’s mom. “She has her stuff together, she really does. She’s very solid, so I’m very proud of her.

“We like all of our exes.”

As for all that attention her daughter receives, Tina said, “We just try to go with the flow. Try to keep our mouth shut when we’re walking out so you don’t say things. It’s kind of crazy.”

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Jessica is desperate to rekindle her romance with ex-husband Nick Lachey.

“Nick is the guy Jess knew she should be with, but they were too young and their lives catapulted so quickly into fame that they never seemed to be able to catch up,” a source recently told America’s OK! magazine. “She’s changed so much since they split and found out a lot about herself.

“He’ll always hold a special place in her heart. It was her first love.

“Jess isn’t sure if Nick would give her a chance at this point, but she’d love to be friends. She says a part of her will always love him.”
