Mariah Carey ‘Worried About Whitney Houston’s Comeback’

Mariah CareyMariah Carey is desperate to complete her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel — she’s worried about Whitney Houston‘s comeback.

A source told the New York Post newspaper that Mooriah has been putting in overtime at the recording studio because she’s “getting very nervous now that Whitney Houston is coming back.”

Carey’s manager Chris Lighty said, “My management company is dealing with [Mariah's] music, brand extensions and commercial opportunities. We love Mariah.”

When pressed for further details about Carey’s eagerly-awaited album, Lighty told the Post that he was “at the beach” and couldn’t talk. Professional, huh?

It was reported in June that Mariah had been “stuffing her face” as she works on her upcoming record.

“Mariah loves food,” an insider said. “Right now she’s making an album and eating everything and anything she wants. She has put on about 15 pounds, but she loves the curves.

“She’ll definitely tone up again when she releases her album, but as of now, she’s stuffing her face.”

    I like Mariah but I’d be worried too, Whitney is and will always be the greatest female singer. I’m sure Mariah’s album will do well and get more radio play, but Whitney’s will be the one that wins the Grammys.

    Im glad Mariahs worried about Whitneys comeback coz this might actually make Mariah work harder and make a better album! Mariah is also the greatest female singer …. as it depends on who you think is better! I personally think that both albums will do well as they both have huge loyal following but from what I have heard from whitney album…….. i dont think that it will do well in the long run.maybe a good opening week but nothing more!

    Mariah’s a top-40 artist and trend-chaser so her songs always tend to do well. The bigger concern for Mariah is the momentum re: Whitney Houston’s comeback. People generally want to see Whitney come back, so Mariah may be overshadowed a bit.

    I don’t think she needs to be worried about Whitney’s comeback. Whitney’s vocal prowess isn’t the same as it was about the last time we’ve heard from her. And the reception on Whitney is lukewarm so far. An artist who’s been off for like 7 years needs a strong single to make a great comeback just as how Mariah needed a huge hit like We Belong Together to return to spotlight.

    Emancipation of Mimi was not Mariah’s comeback album. She had her “nervous breakdown” on the Glitter album, was the Emancipation the next album after Glitter? If not, then Emancipation was not her comeback album, it would be the album after Glitter.

    Charmbracelet was Mariah’s album after Glitter which was not successful. Emancipation came after Charmbracelet, which in laymen’s term, is not the comeback CD. Charmbracelet is the comeback “from a nervous breakdown” CD, which flopped.

    Diane D ur so silly and Naive. Of course “COMEBACK” album doesn’t mean physical album that’s in sequence to a physical previous album…. gosh…. It means an album in the string that finally become the ‘IT’ album after a string of flops…. And I don’t even mean Information Technology… Where have you been?? Year 1?

    Mariah is alot more mainstream. The content I’ve heard so far from Whitney is “OK” but I’m sure they’ll both do pretty well on there albums. I dont think Mariah needs to worry at all.

    diane d is referring to mariah cause mariah is still great after the “comeback” flop charmbracelet. that means if whitney flop this time, she can still make a comeback next time.
    it’s like an excuse for a flop, but it’s unnecessary cause personally i think whitney will sell. people would go crazy to buy her album.

    i dont think mariah is worried or what…they both are super legends

    Mariah and Whitney had the best voices in the world during their prime. It will be nice to see Whit and Mariah battling out for the highest chart positions again, see who really is the best. But as said previously, it will proberbly be Whitneys album that picks up the Grammys.

    like Mariah’s old-school music but tired of the lame autotune Touch My Body/Obsessed crap. What happened to the days of Vision of Love and My All? Probably cause her voice has detiorated so bad. I don’t think Whitney sounds like she did in 1992 either but I think she is and always will be the greatest female singer. Million Dollar Bill is fantastic and I look to you in a pretty ballad. Whitney can convey emotion that only Aretha Franklin can top. Her sounds aren’t designed to be over-played on pop radio, she makes music she believes in not music to get another hit.

    Check out this site, every time I check the Mariah fans flood the poll to make her come on top. I vote for Whitney and Madonna every time I log on b/c I’m so sick of Mariahs fans. Seriously a fund to collect money to make her singles go higher on the chart? Give me a break:

    It really depends on who will buy Whitney’s album. Most of Whitney’s fans should be in their thirtys by now and if they are going to rush out to buy it then maybe it will be a hit. But of you’re talking about the now generation themn I doubt that tghye will. Of course Mariah’s old school was good but wouldn’t she sound a bit out dated if she was singing the same stuff now 20 years on. Is Madonna. No way her style has also changed over the years. One has to move with the rhythm.

    ok really tyhe world loves whitney houston with a strong passion, she will buss mariah’s behind! whitneys voice is not as strong as before but as soon as she gets out there singing she will get the power back, all mariah does now is write meaningless lyrics and whisper them with her once powerful voice! whitney on top forever, she just has the respect!
