Anna Friel: ‘I Didn’t Plan to Have Kids’

Anna Friel never planned to have children — but she insists motherhood has changed her life.
The Pushing Daisies actress — who has a daughter, Gracie Ellen Mary, with longtime partner David Thewlis — says she was amazed at the feelings she had when she became a mom.
“I never planned it,” she said. “If you don’t have children, all I’m saying is that you’ll miss out on having this beautiful, innocent, adorable little thing that’ll love you like you’ve never been loved before.
“And it makes everything else just not as important, so you go at things with a lot more confidence.
“I like her ruling the roost, and dictating what happens.”
Asked if she plans to wed, Friel said, “I always thought I would get married, you know, get married and then have kids. But then I don’t know what happened — it all went topsy-turvy.”
