Gerard Butler to be Captain Britain?

Gerard ButlerGerard Butler is being lined up to play Captain Britain in a movie version of the cult comic book character.

It will be yet another movie inspired by Marvel’s tales and would see Gerard in an all-British blockbuster.

The role would make the Scottish hunk — who can currently be seen starring opposite Katherine Heigl in chick flick The Ugly Truth — as the UK’s answer to Captain America.

“This would be a different angle on the usual superhero movies and not just because it is set outside of the US,” dished a Hollywood insider. “It will be darker and grittier than movies like Spider-Man and Iron Man — kind of like Marvel’s answer to The Dark Knight.

“There are few British actors who could take the title role but Gerard is the clear favorite. He’s perfect for it.”

Butler, 39, was recently seen making out with his The Bounty costar Jennifer Aniston — while the cameras weren’t rolling!

    I completely understand Gerry. I am his age and build and similarly, single, looking for the right woman. I went to Glasgow recently and all the women there wanted me for lack of manly men in the City. In Wales I’m a nobody.

    Captain BRITAIN?! You’re joking, right? Do you work for Aniston’s PR team? Even the liars who sell their half truths to the rags didn’t say they were seen “making out”. The “source” said he saw them “steal a kiss”, which sounds as though he writes screenplays for Aniston’s moronic movies. Or maybe it’s just her PR people working overtime yet again. Even if Aniston and Butler are hooking up while working together, it won’t last, it never does (with him or her). He doesn’t know what he wants and she’s too needy.

    Gerry darker than the Dark Knight. Yes I like the sound of that and he certainly could do it. After seeing the trailers for Gamer and Law Abiding Citizen I think he would be a winner in something like that. He has a very Dark side. He takes his work very seriously and would bring a new Ethos to that type of role. I hope this one happens.

    If Gerry wants to do this, then I am all over it as well!! He is the rugged, gritty male figure that could pull this off. He has more than proven his physical abilities in several recent movies and a few up coming ones as well. He is the “manager” of his mind!! And since he has been the one and only movie star crush EVER in my life, and I’ve lived some years, I want him to do all he wants and let me enjoy the “fruits” of his craft! He is one incredibly awesome man!!

    Looks like Gerard Butler is the go to guy for action now. He’ll quickly become the brunette Dolph Lundgren.

    If Gerry doesn’t do it, Michael Fassbender (Lt. Archie Hilcox in Inglourious Basterds) would be my next choice to play a dark british superhero. They’d both do great.
