Brad Pitt Didn’t Blast Tom Cruise

Posted by Adam

Brad PittWhat could have been one of Hollywood’s dirtiest, sexiest feuds has had its breaks slammed on before it even started!

Brad Pitt
has denied lambasting Tom Cruise‘s recent war flick Valkyrie.

Pitt — who stars in Quentin Tarantino‘s new Nazi film Inglourious Basterdsapparently told a German magazine that Cruise’s movie, about a real plot to kill Hitler, “was a ridiculous movie.”

But it seems it was a simple case of lost in translation.

“Brad has never seen VALKYRIE so this is NOT accurate,” Pitt’s capital letter-loving manager told Us Weekly magazine.

Pitt has dissed Cruise in the past.

After they costarred in Interview With The Vampire, Angelina Jolie‘s baby daddy told Rolling Stone, “I like the guy. I honestly like the guy. But at a point, I started resenting him. In retrospect, I realize that it was completely because of who our characters were. I realize that it was my problem.”

Both seem like nice guys. I happen to prefer Tom’s movies, though.

Cruise has concentrated on action movies more that Pitt (which I like), but they both have impressive portfolios! To this day Pitt’s role in Kalifonia is the quintessential crazed murderer, and Cruise’s role in Magnolia was played perfectly to show the depths hidden behind a masculine facade.

Both actors have deserved the nod of the Academy at one point, but neither have won because it rarely gives the award to young, good looking, men. Perhaps as they age they will be rewarded with what they have been unjustly denied. Both are vastly under-rated in my mind, and both show up sober for interviews, which is not that common in Hollywood, it seems.

I prefer Pitt simply because he’s a much more versatile actor. While Cruise has in the past pulled punches with his large fan base and done some decent films, he seems to make more money with his”big bang” films, which speaks to public desire for ‘simple’ entertainment. I believe we are now seeing the rise of ‘Pitt’ where once it was mostly ‘Cruise’ in the past. What’s interesting is that Pitt’s movies are not in the ‘simple’ category at all. One thing for sure, both men will take their places at the ‘Legend’s Table’ next to Johnny Depp and Denzel Washington.
