Kerry Katona Addresses Cocaine Controversy

Kerry Katona has spoken out for the first time since her recent cocaine scandal — insisting she’s “ashamed” and “sorry” about what she’s done.

The former Atomic Kitten star says her world “came crashing down” when footage emerged of her snorting white powder — reportedly cocaine — in her home 12 days ago.

“I am so sorry and so ashamed of my actions. I know I let everyone down — my fans, my family and people I work with.  It was a moment of weakness and stupidity and I regret it terribly,” the self-pitying train wreck told Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper in a new interview.

“No one forced me to do it, I’m a grown-up woman and I did it because I was very unhappy at the time and thought it might make me feel better about myself. I have been crying and been at my wit’s end since it happened.

“If any good can come out of this, then let it be this — I would like to tell every man, woman and child in the UK that taking drugs only ever causes misery in the end.

“They don’t make you look cool, they make you look an idiot, and all your insecurities and self-hate – the main reasons I took them in the first place – are only made worse.”

“This week has been one of the lowest moments of my life,” she added.

“I have been brought low, I’ve lost my job, I’m bankrupt and at my wit’s end. The biggest fear I could ever have is losing my children. But I’m not aware that Brian wants custody of the girls and I’ve certainly not received any calls or letters saying anything of the sort. I’ll do all I can to keep hold of my girls, they are everything to me.

“I’m worried about my finances, everything is crashing round my ears. I just hope I can keep hold of my house. I love living there.

“It’s more for the kids that I want to keep the house in Wilmslow, they love it and I want them to have a familiar place to call their own.

“When I was young I was forever getting moved about from place to place. It’s so important for children to have the stability that a family home gives. I want the children to be happy and feel safe – and they do there.”

‘I’ll die young’

Meanwhile, in an interview with the News of The World newspaper, Katona’s stepsister and closest confidante Pat Ferrier revealed how the star told her she fears she’s destined for an early grave.

“Kerry’s life is out of control now. She IS a drug addict. Her nose IS caving in — I’ve seen it with my own eyes. She needs to get help or she’ll DIE,” Pat told the tabloid.

“If she doesn’t change her ways and keeps on going like this she’ll be dead before she’s 30. She’ll kill herself.

“And I’ve told her that. Shockingly, Kerry agreed with me. She just turned around and said, ‘I’m going to tell you something Pat. My mum will outlive me. I’ll die young.’”
