Cristiano RonaldoCristiano Ronaldo “really liked” Paris Hilton and was apparently “gutted” when the socialite rekindled her romance with former flame Doug Reinhardt.

Hilton, 28, reportedly told Ronaldo over the phone, “This isn’t going to work.”

She then ran away for a break in Fiji with baseball star Reinhardt.

“They kept in touch for a bit but they didn’t actually get to see each other because of their busy schedules, a source close to Ronaldo told Britain’s Daily Star Sunday. “Then in the end Paris told him it was never going to work. He was pretty gutted, to be honest. He really liked her.”

Ronaldo and Hilton hooked up earlier this year in Los Angeles
