Gerard Butler Worried About Losing Accent
Gerard Butler is worried about losing is Scottish accent.
The Paisley-born actor — who stars opposite Jennifer Aniston in upcoming movie The Bounty — admits his constant portrayal of Americans has left him scared of losing his Caledonian timbre.
“I have to confess I always hated any person from Scotland who went and lost their accent in the slightest,” Butler said.
“But I’ve spent a year-and-a-half now playing roles as an American and I’m not comfortable enough doing those accents only when we film, so I have to keep it up all the time. I really hate myself for doing that.”
Butler, 39, recently revealed that he’d quite like to have a wife and kids.
“I would love to have a wife and kids, but you can’t magic them out of thin air,” he has said. “I’ve never been that ’seven-year relationship’ kind of guy. [But I'm ready] for the big relationship.
“I guess I’ve got to settle down soon, but I’m nervous to say it out loud because it might not happen.”
