Kristen Stewart hardly recognized Taylor Lautner when he turned up for his first day at work filming Twilight sequel New Moon — because he had buffed up so much!

The 19-year-old actress says her 17-year-old costar has altered not just by gaining some extra pounds and a whole new sixpack — but he is mentally stronger too.

“It’s pretty impressive. I don’t know how he did it,” said Kristen. “He looks amazing and looks so different.

“But the whole thing is that it’s not just physical. You can read it all over him. It’s part of his entire attitude. The difference between the kid who did Twilight and this guy, now, is pretty astounding.”

New Moon — which also stars Brit hunk Robert Pattinson — hits movie theaters later this year.

Kristen recently revealed that she can’t want for Twilight to be over.

“I can’t wait to be finished because when I start a movie initially, I’m dying to get it done,” she said. “I’m thinking about something all the time and I want to go through the experience. In this case, I have so much ahead of me.

“Usually I have six weeks and at the end of the six weeks we will have made our product. We will have gone through everything that we wanted to.

“But, in this case, I have to wait, literally, years. So, I’m waiting to get it done. I want it to be done.”
