On what would have been his 51st birthday, Michael Jackson was honored in Las Vegas Saturday, August 29.
The King of Pop — who died June 25 — was posthumously awarded a star on the Palms Casino Resort’s Walk of Fame Saturday while his father, Joe Jackson, and a smattering of fans looked on.
“I wish he was here to see this take place,” the Jackson patriarch said of his tragic son.
The ceremony was actually two years in the making, organizers said, adding that Michael wanted to coordinate the unveiling with some type of major event.
“The plan was that Michael would accept the star after the run of London shows,” said emcee Robin Leach.
After the ceremony, Joe had dinner at the N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms and then went up to the Playboy Club, TMZ reports.
After that, he went to another nightclub called Moon, where the DJ played Michael Jackson songs all night.
