Phil Spector to Move Jails
Posted by Adam
Phil Spector is being moved to a different jail.
The music legend — who was sentenced in May to 19 years in prison after he was convicted of the murder of actress Lana Clarkson — is being moved from the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility & State Prison in Corcoran to Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga after complaining he feared for his safety.
But Spector is terrified he’ll die in his new prison because of an outbreak of Valley Fever, which has killed 16 inmates in the last four years.
“They are sending Phil there to die,” his wife, Rachelle Short, told the New York Post. “He is scared to death. When I saw him on Saturday, he was shaking . . . He’s 70 years old and 130 pounds . . . We are trying to appeal over this, but he’s been told he has no time. He’s already been given his bus pass out of Corcoran.”
Valley Fever is caused by a fungus that resides in soil and is released as spores.
A Pleasant Valley rep said, “We cannot comment on prisoners who may be moved here in the future.”
